The New SPS Solution for Sustainable, High Performance Coatings

Innovnano, an expert manufacturer of high performance ceramic powders, has developed highly pure 4YSZ (4 mol% yttria stabilised zirconia) for use in suspension. This new breed of nanostructured material is ideally suited for suspension plasma spray (SPS), a powerful new method for the application of coatings, including thermal barrier coatings (TBCs) for turbine engines. Offering several key advantages over conventional coating technologies, including air plasma spray (APS) and electron beam physical vapour deposition (EB-PVD), the SPS process offers higher deposition efficiency to minimise waste and also reduces capital expenditure and process costs.

To complement this technique, Innovnano has developed its nanostructured 4YSZ powder as a stable ethanol-based suspension, which, when applied by SPS, produces coatings with unparalleled chemical homogeneity. This translates to improved mechanical and physical properties, including exceptional thermal insulation, high melting points and superior adhesion to the underlying components. Such properties ensure that the resulting coatings can withstand some of the most demanding conditions and extreme engine temperatures (up to 1400 °C). This has important economic implications, opening up the possibility of higher burn engines for enhanced fuel efficiency, while providing a more sustainable and environmentally friendly TBC solution, reducing overall carbon footprints.

As a more versatile approach, SPS can produce coatings with various morphologies, including columnar structures, enabling users to obtain specific coating properties that are optimally suited for the end-purpose. Despite this adaptability, SPS offers a substantially cheaper alternative to the conventional EB-PVD technique, not only in terms of reduced capital expenditure but also reduced running costs, enabled by the more efficient rate of deposition on the target. Furthermore, without any need for dispersants, Innovnano’s 4YSZ nanostructured feedstock is a ready-to-use material for use in suspension, negating the need for complex chemistry, and ensuring that SPS can be an accessible, efficient and more economical technique for the coatings industry.

FPV beetle Quadcopter cheap solution

If you a beetle Quadcopter and have lying around a TV in your home, you should in this way.
Note: I have a CNC mill the parts, but you can do this by hand as easily.
Parts you need:
1. Beetle quadcopter
2. Video transmitter 1.2 GHz (in this example), but the camera has the easy way to be. I've built a camera with RF transmitter.
3. Step Converter 3.7 v 9 or 12V depending on the camera type. I use the same battery for the Quad and the camera link.
4. Monitor AV. I have a DVD player NextBase screen 10 "received size. The bigger, the better.
5. Clover leaf antenna for the receiver. Show friends http://rcexplorer.se/diy/2011/08/the-cloverleaf-fpv-antenna/ her instructions. This step is a must if you have a low signal output as 10mW. Can a more powerful transmitter, but it requires more battery and the beetle is a lightweight vehicle. This setup is 100 grams in total.

I have a photo of the receiver with the antenna for 1.2 GHz. It is the larger antenna. I built also an antenna for 2.4 GHz 2-Channel RC transmitter and video link (smaller antenna). Keep in mind, how did the lower frequency penetrate better. 5.8 GHz is cool, but need more power for the same area. Lower band of radio frequencies, which are transmitted materials easier than band frequencies. Lower frequencies are all occupied and reserved for other things. I want a video link system 400-900 MHz band to have, which means affordable videos in HD quality. I am afraid that as the 5.8 HD amateurs permanently will inhibit quality FPV RC band higher frequencies.
NB: the § § thingies are earrings for my girlfriend. Think their profession!

Cost estimate of USD:
Beetle: 30
Video link: 20-25 (1.2 GHz)
DC / DC converters increase: 2.5
JR connector: 1
Plastic 2
free :-) work
Monitor the used DVD player for free! But you can used buy similar to like 20-$40.

Total: ~$ 60 ($100 with used monitor)
Compare this with the shark system.

Future ideas for development.
Buy a high-definition camera with 600 or 700 TVL, for $20.
