TEC ® products help design COBA cocina restaurant

COBA cocina restaurant in Lexington, KY, Interior and exterior contains more than 60,000 square feet of glass, porcelain and ceramic tile, all installed power grout and IsoLight ™ mortar with TEC ®. The design of the COBA cocina was inspired by cenotes, a miracle of nature, found most commonly in the Yucatan Peninsula, where land has eroded over the centuries to create a mystical underwater world. At the heart of the restaurant is an aquarium, which is the largest private collection of moon jellyfish of the world.

The project team decided that the limestone bedrock and underwater atmosphere the best material to simulate a variety of tiles would be. To achieve this complex look the team turned products due to its wide variety of options and ultimate performance immediately to TEC.

TEC ® IsoLight ™ is a mortar used to set all of the tile. IsoLight is easy the tile by up to 1/8 "substrate cracking from movement in the plane horizontal substrate protects. It contains recycled materials to allow the wonderful handling and user friendliness.  In addition, IsoLight can be applied on many substrates, an extra bonus for the installer of the project of COBA cocina.

"The mortar was applied on different substrate surfaces and with a variety of tiles materials, used," said Donnie may, President of the Mai contracting, which served as an installer to the project. "Without products while installing change time saved and to concentrate the complicated details of this installation allows us."

The exterior of the restaurant is covered solid porcelain tile, it gives a travertine look. The large size-12 "x 24" tile with the same TEC products such as the Interior sets. IsoLight and makes joints are ideal for outdoor installations.
