CNC Lathe Machines

CNC lathe machines are computer controlled just like any other CNC machine. It can be programmed to do a variety of different things such as sanding, cutting and drilling. CNC lathe machines will work for wood or metals, depending upon the project that you are doing. This machine can help cut your production time down and increase the profitability of your business in the end.

The wood lathe can not only be used for wood but also for materials such as brass and aluminum. Metalworking lathes or milling machines are available for other materials. The variety that is offered offers you limitless possibilities in creativity. So, what direction will you be taking your business in next?

From small shops to large companies, there is a lathe that is available for anyone. Whether you need a portable machine or a stationary machine, the choice is yours. Small shops are able to use the CNC machine to make precise, intricate cuts as in developing stair railings, table legs, chair legs, and so on. When you are done, the product will be beautiful, symmetrical and worth it in the end.

The process is called turning. Turning of the material allows for many shapes and cuts to be made while keeping the end product symmetrical. Perfect diameter from top to bottom will be cut to the specifications desired. Never has it been any easier to achieve this level of design and end product production as it is now.

Metal fabrication is another possibility with the CNC lathe machine. Do you need to create a part that needs to have a circular motion? If so, the CNC lathe machine is the perfect machine to allow you to produce that certain part. Any material can be used. The material, however, has to be able to stand up to the turning process as the computer software program continues its rotation through until the end.

All the operator has to do is program the machine to the specifications that are required to produce the product that is desired and load the material into the machine. The machine does the rest. The machine operates on the X and Y axis. It is great to use if you want to several identical products of the same size and shape without a whole lot of decoration. The computer software program will continue to operate the machine, making in turn rotation after rotation, until the desired specifications have been reached.

From tapered ends to contoured shapes, this machine can do it all. CNC lathe machines can offer your business that special touch, extra technology and time saving steps that you are looking for. Remember, no matter what type of material you are working with, the CNC lathe machine can work with it, as long as it stands up to the rotation process.

If you have any further questions about the CNC lathe machine and what it can do for you, contact a dealer who offers this technology. They will be able to further answer any questions that you have and guide you in the right direction.

CNC Lathe Overview

A CNC lathe is a machine that can spins material to do a variety of operations like sanding, drilling, cutting or sanding. Usually a lathe is used for more intricate cuts and Today, they replace the older multispindle lathes because they are easier to set up and operate.

A CNC lathe will use carbide tooling and is designed using a CAM process which creates a file that can be uploaded to the machine at a later time. The reason these are so popular is because you can set the machine once to do several pieces and it will continue to do them until you have programmed it to stop.

Each CNC lathe has a computer control that allows the machine to be controlled electronically, and this program can be modified to do a variety of things. When an operator runs a CNC lathe they have to have a lot of skill to understand the programs and how the programs to do the work.

You can work with wood when you use a CNC wood lathe or various metals depending on the project you are doing. The wood lathe can be used for wood but also for brass and Aluminum. There are also metalworking CNC lathes or milling machines that cut metal. You can do tapered work with these, drill holes, and create screw threads and more with these lathes.

Some CNC lathes are portable and others are stationary. In many shops for people who do woodwork for a hobby you would find a lathe because it is capable of making a lot of different designs and intricate cuts for things like stair railings, trellis' or table legs.

The point of using a CNC lathe is to make a piece of material that is symmetrical and beautiful. This is done by placing the material in a machine and allowing that piece to be spun until it reaches the specification that was programmed into the computer. The cutting tools then move around it on the Z and X axis to cut away the material that isn't needed to make the piece.

The process that the CNC lathe does is called turning and it can do a variety of shapes when it goes through the full process. Many machines are used to create a plain surface to make contour shapes, to taper the ends of some pieces and it makes threaded surfaces. You can also turn metal so that you can create rods bushes, pulleys or other shapes that are needed. In some industries they use a CNC lathe to fabricate parts that may have a cross section that is to move in a circular motion.

Any material can be used as long as it will hold up during the turning process while the software program is continuing its revolutions.

CNC lathes are best used when you want to turn out several pieces of the same size and shape and where you don't want a lot of decoration. They do have their limitations but for the most part you can create nice pieces with this type of machine.

Pennsylvania Water Jet Company Celebrates 26 Years of Business

This year marks the 26th year of business for H&H Precision Wire, a Pennsylvania machine shop and precision cutting company that serves clients nationwide.

The company began in 1985 out of a small car wash, with only a single CNC lathe and two employees. Looking back, owner Terry Heller said it's amazing how far the company has come along.

"Our success is due to two things: our reputation and our amazing customers," Heller said. "H&H Precision Wire has made its name in providing quality, speedy service at an affordable cost, and we never would have been able to do this without the client base we've amassed over the past 26 years."

After six years of operating out of the former car wash, H&H Precision Wire moved into a 4,500 square-foot shop, which meant more employees and more CNC lathes. Two expansions later, the company is housed in a 12,000 square-foot facility, with 17 employees and 23 CNC machines.

H&H Precision Wire has five separate departments, which together produce the quality precision products for which the company is known. Heller said the company's dedication to quality and its approach to managing employees has resulted in a high percentage of tenured employees, with many averaging over 12 years of service with the company.

The Newport, Pa. machine shop offers wire EDM, water jet, CNC lathe, CNC mill and screw machine services. The company's wire EDM machines are able to achieve very small tolerances, and its water jet capabilities have given them the ability to cut an array of materials and thicknesses, from stone and metal to rubber and plastic. H&H Precision Wire has cut various sorts of material, including tool pieces, gears, sprockets and more.

The company is one of the most successful businesses in Perry County, Pa. For more information about H&H Precision Wire, readers can visit http://www.hhprecisionwire.com.

Longmont Machining is Helping America Get Back on Her Feet

Longmont Machining joins the leading edge of companies helping the USA get back on her feet and regain her competitive manufacturing advantage.

Longmont Machining has been in operation over 25 years.  When the new owners, Gary and Tim, bought the company in 2008, their intentions were to grow the business and expand capabilities.  Their business plan was to put Longmont Machining on the map as THE machine shop along the front-range of Colorado.  They knew this was a multi-year plan, but one that could be achieved by hiring the best available people, upgrading the equipment, attention to detail, and expanding services.

The new owners quickly realized they needed the right help to begin implementing their plan.  They immediately set forth hiring two key positions – a seasoned Controller with rapid growth experience, and an equally impressive Operations Director.  Both of these people used their experience to develop a plan to begin controlling the cash flow while optimizing production.

The initial months were spent implementing basic operational guidelines, and responding to existing customer inquiries.  The mission at this stage was simple but important – let existing customers know the shop was under new ownership.  The management team let them know their business was important, and they were doing everything possible to quickly improve quality, on-time delivery, and customer service.

These were long days – fighting fires and working around the clock to meet deadlines.  Not just meeting the delivery date, but meeting it AND delivering quality parts.  Two things that are now taken for granted.  The production operators were briefed on the importance of producing quality parts and meeting delivery dates.
In the middle of this rebuilding, the bottom fell-out of the economy, leaving Tim and Gary in a fight for their economic lives.  Pay cuts were implemented across the board, and sales engineers were hired with a single mission:  bring in new business and expand their customer base.  NOW.

The Longmont Machining mission is important – not just to Tim and Gary and the staff, but to America.  There are thousands of machine shops and small businesses across the country in similar situations.  The difference with Longmont Machining are the people.  People with a can-do attitude, a sense of purpose, and creative minds focused on making a better part quicker, faster, and more superior than anyone else.  Rather than play the lowest-price game, they are creating their own game with their rules – they will lead manufacturing through creativity, innovation, and good ol’ Yankee Ingenuity.

Everyone in America wants to support our friends, neighbors, and local businesses.  This is especially true now, while America recovers from the world-wide recession. The old rules of business no longer apply.  The new rules are based on integrity, innovation, and getting a great part at a fair price.

Everyone is getting tired of reading about the large U.S. corporations outsourcing their manufacturing to China.  We all want a lower price, but we still expect the same quality that we have grown accustomed to. We are accustomed to this high quality and low price thanks to America’s work and progress in design and manufacturing.  What we are tired of; is paying our hard earned money for a product that is defective, dangerous, and insulting to the American people.

Join Longmont Machining in leading the rebuilding of America.  Help them help you.  Help them strengthen America.  By pulling together we all play a part in rebuilding America and reclaiming our worldwide manufacturing lead.  Support your local small company, your state, and America.

CNC Lathe Information on CNC Turning can now be Accessed on CNCInformation.com

CNC Lathe Information has earned its own dedicated webpage on Ivan’s CNC Information website. Here a user can find CNC Turning information, CNC Lathe Information, and CNC Lathe Articles so all CNC Lathe information is in one location on Ivan’s site. Ivan has created a section on his Computer Numerical Control Info website that is solely for the purpose of talking about all of the different Computer Numerically Controlled Machines on the market today.

Some of the different machines that Ivan discusses in this section on CNC Machines are Plasma Cutters, Foam Cutters, Tube Benders, and yes Computer Numerically Controlled Lathes. You can reach the CNC Lathe page directly and start learning about the difference between Lathes that are worked by hand, and Lathes that are controlled by Computer Numerical Control. You can get to the webpage by clicking on this CNC Lathe link: http://cncinformation.com/cnc-lathe-cnc-turning-lathe-tur....

What do Computer Numerically Controlled Lathe machines do? Ivan addresses this on his webpage by talking about the uses for CNC Lathes. Computer Numerically Controlled Lathes turn stock to remove the material.  Most parts coming off a CNC Lathe will be cylindrical and symmetrical. Visit the website for more info on this: http://cncinformation.com/cnc-lathe-cnc-turning-lathe-turning/.

Production lathes are generally enclosed in a housing to cut down on coolant and chips from flying around.  A lot of hobbyist level lathes do not have this feature.  Many CNC Lathes are old manual lathes that have gone through a conversion to Computer Numerically Controlled for ease of use. One thing that CNC Lathes give you that hand turning doesn’t is that you can get similar parts, such as legs on a table or chair, with very high accuracy and zero mistakes. When you turn by hand, you may end up with a few minor errors that cause dysfunction in the piece you are trying to turn. Ivan has plenty of more information on CNC Lathes and CNC Lathe uses on his website at: http://cncinformation.com/cnc-lathe-cnc-turning-lathe-turning/.

About CNC Information: CNC Information is a community CNC website that brings user into a deeper understanding of CNC.

Small Yet More Functional CNC Lathe Available at CNC Masters

CNC lathe tools becoming more and more available today, machinists can now say goodbye to the old and complicated ways of machining parts and materials into different shapes and forms. CNC lathes are readily available at CNC Masters, and unlike other types of lathes, they are built with smaller size yet more functionality.

Despite its smaller size, CNC Masters’ CNC lathes are designed much like the conventional, bigger types of lathes. The only difference is that they can perform a huge variety of tasks, from shaping and forming to turning, facing, chamfering, and even doing machine threads. These lathes are also user-friendly, making them perfect both for novice and professional machinists. No extensive training is recommended, as they’re easy to program and navigate once they’ve been set up. Also, there is no need to hire professional machinists or technicians to tune and maintain the lathes.

The best part of using these lathes from CNC Masters is that every single lathe has gone through extensive quality and performance tests. This means machinists can expect fast and efficient production of top-quality and identical products as what CNC lathes are supposed to be. These CNC lathes make complex machining applications easier for machinists, making them more productive and efficient.

For additional information about CNC Master’s CNC lathe equipment, visit its website at http://www.cncmasters.com or call 877-262-8895.
